Flashpoint Hardware
Powerchips from Collins Performance Engineering can now offer Flashpoint, a system for flashing vehicles ECU's.
The Powerchips Flashpoint system works simply and effectively. It is
now possible to do electronic power upgrades to a huge range of
vehicles without the hassle and worry of removing the vehicle's ECU and
sending it away for modification.
Powerchips-flashpoint is a system that allows the reading and programming of
a huge range of vehicles through the serial port by connecting a
notebook/laptop to the diagnosis socket of the vehicle.
Flashpoint covers a massive range of vehicles that can be seen on the application list here.
Genius, the first remote serial programming system for tuners networks. This development is based on our revolutionary tool Genius, the Touch & Map console for serial reading and programming operations of Engine Control Units (ECUs). What makes Flashpoint Genius so unique and facile in its use is the breakthrough technology of the Touch-Screen panel.
Flashpoint Genius emerges from the large producer multitude for the capability of reading and programming without being connected to a PC, to offer the greatest independence and avoid slowness or blocking tied to an eventual presence of a virus or, in general, effect of the multitasking nature of the computer itself.
Flashpoint Genius operates under the concept of a Manager - Client(s) system.
The Manager - the party who prepares the customized file - is equipped with an extended version of our Race tuning system.
The Client - the party who reads the original file and downloads the desired improved file - is equipped with the Flashpoint Genius Console.
The procedure is simple. With the Genius Console, the client reads the original car file with the relevant information, VIN (chassis number) included, then sends the file to the manager via FTP connection. The manager retrieves the file and optimizes it, then sends it back to the client. The client downloads this file into the Genius Console and flashes the car. Quick and easy!
So as to make it completely clear as to how professional this working system is, a tuning simulation is demonstrated below.
1. In order to tune a car, the CLIENT connects his GENIUS Console to the car OBDII or diagnostic socket and follows the instructional information given by the programme: the serial reading procedure begins.
2. Once the file has been read, the CLIENT saves it in his FLASH POINT SYSTEM in the same way as he would in our RACE tuning programme: the archives are organized in a logical structure according to MANUFACTURER/VEHICLE/TYPE for fast retrieval.
3. The original file read is sent to the MANAGER via FTP by the push of a button.
4. The MANAGER receives the file and stores it in a specific section of his upgraded RACE system, which is structured according to the FLASH POINT CLIENT codes, making it simple to keep a record of what has been previously created.
5. The MANAGER prepares an optimized file with RACE, following the usual procedure.
6. The MANAGER sends the improved file back to the CLIENT via FTP (important: the CLIENT can receive/send files from/to the MANAGER only).
7. The CLIENT receives the enhanced file and stores it into his FLASH POINT SYSTEM (in the same position as the original file) and then, by the push of a button, downloads the file in GENIUS console and then into the car via OBDII or the specific connector required. It is suffice to follow the information given by the program: connection of required cable, serial programming procedure, etc.
8. Once these operations have been completed, the improved file is locked in order to prevent eventual reuse of the same file on other cars. Both the original and customized files are stored in the FLASH POINT SYSTEM, thus giving the customer the possibility to restore the original file and then converting back to the improved file on whim.
Technical Features:
Serial reading/programming through OBDII socket or a specific diagnostic connector (supplied separately)
Serial communication link restoration and error correction in case of communication disruption (i.e. should accidental disconnection from the OBDII socket occur during the programming process)
Large built-in memory for storage of original and customized files.
The original/customized file is always available to the CLIENT for reflashing the matching ECU without needing manager intervention.
Built-in system safeguards make it impossible for the client to find, access and reuse the original/customized file on any other vehicle. The original/customized file is tied to the VIN for identification purposes. The customized file is locked, once flashed onto the car, and cannot be used again (unless the original file is restored to the matching ECU.
The FLASH POINT GENIUS CLIENT KIT is inclusive of:
Flash Point Software for exchange offiles/information between Manager -
Client.
Genius Hardware Kit, inclusive of OBDII
Standard Socket and Universal Cable (a three wire cable for pin-to-pin connections).
* Eventual additional cables/connectors will be supplied separately.
The Client's system can be kept up to date with a yearly maintenance fee after the first year
Technical requirements for RACE manager:
RACE EVO PLUS + Upgrade to RACE MANAGER
Top Tuner Annual Subscription
At purchase, FLASH POINT GENIUS is provided with the available car protocols and one year of new protocols. After the first year, an annual subscription allows the client to receive new released protocols, otherwise FLASH POINT GENIUS continues working with what is already enabled.
The FLASH POINT GENIUS kits are provided by the RACE MANAGER.
This system does not involve additional costs for serial programming operations.
